Attorney on Every Case

For more than 26 years, Jacqueline has built her legal career on a commitment to exceptional advocacy, thoughtful counsel, and the belief that every client deserves to be heard. As an accomplished criminal defense and family law attorney, she brings decades of courtroom experience and seasoned judgment to matters that often involve the most important aspects of a client's life — their family, their children, their reputation, and their future.

She began her career as an Assistant Public Defender, spending nearly four years representing individuals accused of crimes and building extensive hands-on courtroom and trial experience — a foundation that shaped her ability to evaluate a case critically, think strategically under pressure, and advocate confidently in the courtroom. Bilingual in English and Spanish, she is proud to represent individuals and families from diverse backgrounds.

Beyond the Courtroom
"When something important is at stake, having the right advocate matters." — Jacqueline LeBron Jorgensen, Esq.

A Commitment to Advocacy Beyond the Courtroom

Jacqueline's dedication to advocacy has never been limited to private practice. She is the founder of a nonprofit organization created to help ensure that children have a meaningful voice in court proceedings. Through her Guardian ad Litem work with Children's Voice, she has also advocated on behalf of abused and neglected children — giving a voice to those who might otherwise struggle to be heard within the legal system.

That work reflects a philosophy that has remained constant throughout her career: the practice of law is ultimately about people. Behind every pleading, hearing, deposition, and trial is a person facing uncertainty about something deeply important to his or her life. Jacqueline believes exceptional representation requires more than simply knowing the law — it requires preparation, judgment, integrity, compassion, and the willingness to advocate decisively when circumstances demand it.

The Person Behind the Practice

Jacqueline has been married for 24 years to her husband, whom she attended law school with, and together they have raised two daughters. Her experiences as an attorney, wife, and mother have given her a particularly meaningful perspective on family law — she understands that decisions made during litigation can extend far beyond the courtroom and affect families and children for years to come, and she approaches each matter with both strategic focus and an appreciation for the personal circumstances that brought the client to her office.

Away from her practice, Jacqueline is an avid reader and enjoys writing short stories — interests that reflect a lifelong appreciation for language, perspective, and the stories that shape people's lives.

Common questions, answered plainly.

General information to help you get oriented — every case is different, so use a free consultation to talk through yours specifically.

How long does a divorce take in Florida?
An uncontested divorce with no disputes can sometimes resolve in a matter of weeks once filed. A contested divorce involving custody, support, or property disputes typically takes several months to over a year, depending on court schedules and how much the parties disagree. We'll give you a realistic estimate specific to your situation during your consultation.
Do I need a lawyer for an uncontested divorce?
Florida doesn't require an attorney to file for divorce. That said, even "uncontested" cases involve binding paperwork around property, debt, and parenting plans that are difficult to undo later if something is missed. Many people use an attorney specifically to review or prepare that paperwork correctly the first time.
How is child custody decided in Florida?
Florida law refers to this as "time-sharing" rather than custody, and courts decide it based on the best interests of the child — a standard that weighs factors like each parent's involvement, stability, and ability to co-parent. Outcomes vary significantly case to case, which is why we build a parenting plan strategy around your specific family circumstances.
Will I have to go to court?
Not always. Many family law matters resolve through negotiation or mediation without a contested hearing. Some — particularly disputed custody or domestic violence matters — do require court appearances. We'll be upfront with you early about which path your case is likely to take.
What happens during a free consultation?
You'll walk through your situation with Jacqueline directly — what's happened so far, what you're trying to achieve, and what the realistic legal options look like. There's no obligation to move forward afterward; it's a chance for you to ask questions and decide if it's the right fit.
Do you handle military divorce cases?
Yes. Military divorce involves added layers most family law cases don't — deployment schedules, jurisdiction questions, and federal benefits like military pensions and healthcare. We work with both service members and military spouses on these matters.
What should I do if I'm arrested in Florida?
Stay calm, don't resist, and don't answer questions beyond identifying yourself. You have the right to remain silent and the right to an attorney — invoke both clearly and early. Anything you say before speaking with a lawyer can be used against you, even if it seems harmless. Contact an attorney as soon as possible after arrest, ideally before any formal questioning takes place.
What's the difference between a misdemeanor and a felony in Florida?
Misdemeanors are less serious offenses — typically carrying up to one year in county jail — while felonies are more serious charges that can result in state prison sentences of more than a year. The distinction matters well beyond the courtroom: felony convictions can affect your right to vote, carry a firearm, hold certain licenses, and pass background checks. Both deserve serious legal representation.
Can a criminal charge affect my family law case?
Yes, and significantly. A domestic violence charge or conviction can directly impact custody and time-sharing arrangements. A DUI or other criminal matter may be raised to question parental fitness. Because the criminal and family courts often operate simultaneously, decisions made in one case can shape outcomes in the other. Having an attorney who handles both gives you coordinated representation across both proceedings.
